How does a maphack work?
Well, in Warcraft 3 games there is no real client-server behavior, because every player’s computer has all game information at all time. So your computer already knows where enemy heroes are, it just adds the fog so you can not see them. A maphack simply manipulates Warcraft and tells it to just not add the fog to the map. Voilà – you see enemies.
Blizzard’s Warden detects cheaters/hackers in both Battle.net and custom games. But if you somehow loose connection to Blizzard’s server, Warden can not scan you anymore, but you are still in the custom game and may start your maphacks without any danger! (To close connection the Blizzard you can use DropBnet)
In Heroes of Newerth (HoN) maphacking is impossible. All games in HoN are hosted on the publisher’s servers and every player gets only the game-information he really needs. If an enemy hero is under fog, the server will not send you it’s position and no maphack could make him visible.
Care: If anybody offers you a HoN maphack, it is probably a virus, trojan or keylogger!
However, it is quite expensive for publishers to host all games on own servers like HoN does, therefore that will probably not become established in other games.

At the moment we can only speculate about Dota 2. With a probability bordering on certainty we can say that Dota 2 is going to run in Steam using Valves Anti Cheat(VAC). VAC is a very smart and powerful anti-cheat software that has been developing for many years. It is connected with Steam and as soon as you drop connection to VAC – what already quite hard – you instantly drop out of Steam and the game. In addition to that new maphacks will be detected by VAC quite fast and you get banned a few weeks later.

HowTo:

1. Download and extract all files from the zip archive to your Warcraft directory
2. Close Warcraft if already running
3. Use WUtil_Loader.exe (or WUtil_Loader_ROC.bat for ROC) to start Warcraft 3
4. Hack activates ingame automaticly
5. Use ingame menu to adjust settings(Game Menu –> Options –> Maphack

Can I get banned for using this?
Currently not. There is some code to hide the hack from Warden. But use it on own risk. You may improve your preotection by using DropBnet.

After Typing the activator hit escape to open the menu. Once the password is typed, replays will be removed. Press ESC key to bring up the menu. Type the password again to disable the ESC key function. (cheats will still be running though)

2. Setting up Dropbnet
Handling this tool is quite simple. Just extract the 2 files to any folder and open “settings.txt”. You will see several lines. The “//” means the following code is just a comment, so it is only for any readers and will be ignored by the application. The command “drop” determines the realm of which the connection is to be closed.
Therefore, simply delete the “//” in front of the line of the realm you are playing and add them to any realm you are not playing on. That’s all! Quite simple, ain’t it?

3. How to use DropBnet

1. Start Warcraft III
2. Enter Battle.net and join / create a game
3. Wait for the host to start the game / start the game
4. After your game has loaded, use [The Windows Key] or [ALT + TAB] to minimize Warcraft III
5. Run “dropbnet2.exe”
6. A black window will appear. Press “Any Key” when prompted to close dropbnet2.exe
7. Start your maphack and activate it, then go back to WC3 and have fun!
8. !IMPORTANT! After playing the game you will get an error message containing the information that your connection to Battlenet has been shut down (which is what we actually intended). You need to close your maphack and warcraft after every game to avoid a ban
